2011 Pumpkin Run - Benefiting the Chapel Hill Carrboro YMCA and Carolina North Forest

When: October 29th, 2011             

Race
The race will begin at 5:00 PM at Carolina North Forest - Parking will begin at 3:45 PM at the Chapel Hill Carrboro YMCA and shuttles will start taking participants to the race site at 4:15 PM. Shuttles will return participants to the Chapel Hill Carrboro YMCA as soon as participants finish the event.  Participants and spectators may also choose to walk to and from the YMCA and the race site.  The post event party and awards will begin roughly around 5:45 PM, or as soon as participants are back at the YMCA.

Packet Pick Up
Packet Pick Up will be held at Fleet Feet Sports Carrboro on Friday, October 28th from 10 AM to 7 PM.  Participants may also pick up their packet (And register if space remains) at the YMCA on race day beginning at 3:45 PM.  All paticipants must sign a waiver to access Carolina North Forest.

Race - The actual race will start and finish at Carolina North Forest
(Shuttles will transport participants from the YMCA to the Carolina North Forest, and then back after the race.  Participants and spectators may choose to walk also.)

Cost: The cost of the race is $25, and gets you an entry into the race, timing, race shirt, and post-race food/party.  ALL proceeds from the race benefit the Chapel Hill Carrboro YMCA and the Carolina North Forest.

Distance: The race is a 4K, and takes place on the "Pumpkin Loop" on Carolina North Forest Trails.  The trail is wide, and perfect for those looking to race as well as those who want to participate as families.

Wave Starts
New for 2011, we will start participants in "waves" which will allow us to increase the number of participants in the event, and also allow for a safer and more enjoyable starting experience.  We will ask you to indicate an approximate pace per mile you expect to run or walk, and we'll assign you to a wave based on that pace.  If you want to run together as a couple, family, or friends, make sure you indicate the same pace so that you start together.

Post Race Party
Yes, the race is what attracts most people to participate, but it's the after party that leaves people talking!  Join DJ Steve Wray for dancing, games, contests, etc!  Also, there will be pie, coffee, cider, and other fun treats to enjoy at the post race party!  Awards will be given to the top 3 in each age group as well as overall.

Costume Contest-
Run in your favorite Halloween costume and earn a chance to win a prize!  We will give out three prizes for the best costumes!
