FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is the cost of the registration?

A: The cost is $75.00 to $100.00.  Price is determined by the amount of weeks spent training and the distance of the race we are working towards.  The registration cost includes No Boundaries labeled gear.  It works out to about $3.50 a workout.  Also included in the fee is RRCA insurance, prizes, giveaways, coupons, offers, incentives, expert coaching and mentor assistance.

Q: I am just a walker.  Is this still the right program for me?

A: Absolutely.  We have an all walking group in each session of NOBO so you can still work towards your goals with others.

Q: If I am already running this distance but I am looking for a group to train with is this program right for me?

A: If you want to be challenged you should make sure to register for NOBO 2.  They will be fine tuning the 5K distance and includes education on more advanced training techniques.  Rather than building endurance for the distance you will work on stamina.

Q: If I miss workouts, or I have to consistently miss one of the days of our weekly meetings does that mean I cannot be involved in the program?

A: Of course you can still be involved!  We would love to have every trainee at every run, but understand that life and obligations may get in the way.  Just make sure that you are completing your training runs independently so you don’t fall behind on your progress!  Also, let your coach know when you are expected to miss so we don’t worry about you!

Q:  How do I register?

A: You can register on Signmeup.com or Sportoften.com.  Once registration is open there will be links to online registration pages on the Fleet Feet Sports Carrboro website.

Q: What if I have to miss the informational meeting?

A: No big deal!  Just come to the first workout and we can get you up to speed then.  Or e-mail Natalie what day you are planning to attend and she can give you a run-down, send you the informational handout via e-mail and walk you through registration.

Q: Can I come to the first workout before deciding to register?

A: Of course!  We are confident after you see what the programs are all about that you will want to get involved.

Q: What does the training schedule look like?

A: We will be starting at small mileages and building over the course of the 10 weeks.  It will never change suddenly or dramatically and you will always be well prepared for any increase distance.

Q:  Where do we meet?

A:  The training location will be announced to you before the start of the season.

TESTIMONIALS

“This program has been a great help to me-- I have never been able to build my strength and stamina working on my own, the way I have with this group!  And the mentors rock, one and all.  What a fantastic resource for us all!”

“I have been feeling so "homeless", and lost, and sorrowful since I moved here and looking forward to NOBO runs has been the thing to give me a sense of peacefulness and time to ground in my body rather than my spinning mind. I really appreciate it. Thank you.”

“I had no idea when I started this process what I was signing myself into.   I came to the meeting because it seemed time to try something new.  You were charming, welcoming and utterly unthreatening - exactly what I needed to nudge me into signing on that line.   I know you know that I have challenges.  Mine are no bigger or smaller than anyone else's but in the context of my world - they are huge.    Five years ago, I couldn't walk across a room without support and oxygen.  Four years ago, I collapsed at my son's soccer game - again.   Three years ago, I was told that I will never ever ever be cured - I can only be managed.  Two years ago, I left everything familiar and came here.  Last year, I held my daughter's hand as they wheeled her into surgery and prayed to the pathology gods - who kinda smiled.   This year, I put on running shoes and stood by myself in the rain and did this.   So, two weeks ago when that very kind man saw me failing and literally took my hand and ran me through the last fifty yards, I cried on the way home.  Saturday, when Felicia kindly but firmly put my feet back into a little faster motion, I smiled.   I don't know if I'll make it to the end.  I don't know what I'll do next week or next month.  But - thanks to you and to the mentors and the program - Already, I did this and it's a heck of a reward.”

“I just wanted to let you know how much No Boundaries helped me.  I ran with your training group first in the fall of 2009 and have been hooked ever since!   I have since moved back to Louisville, KY but have continued running and thanks to the Fleet Feet in Louisville, I just completed my first half marathon (the Kentucky Derby MiniMarathon) with a time of 1:57!!!!  I started out barely running 10:15 min/miles and now can run sub-9's.  I am going to continue training with Fleet Feet to complete my first full marathon in October in Chicago.  I just wanted to let you know that your training group motivated me for the first time to stick with running and see that everyone can be a runner.”
